Nominate a colleague for the Doctors Health Advisory Service Champion of the Year Award

About the Award

The Doctors Health Advisory Service Western Australia (DHASWA) is an independent not-for-profit association, and one of a network of state and territory-based doctors’ health organisations. Its purpose is to improve the health and wellbeing of the medical profession in the public interest for the benefit of the community. 

This Award, also known as Jonathan Morling Doctors’ Health Champion of the Year Award is given to an individual who, in the opinion of the selection panel, has done the most to champion the cause of doctors’ and medical student health in Western Australia in the previous calendar year. 

Any individual from either within or outside of the profession is eligible. Nominations may be made by a member of the medical profession, a member of the public, or a member of one of the medical bodies. 

 

Value of the Award 

The award is to a value of $3,000, contributed by DHASWA and the AMA (WA). The prize money is intended to be used to further knowledge and skills in the recipient’s field of expertise, such as professional development activities. 

The Award will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Promoting changes to the medical system to improve doctors’ wellbeing;
  • Improving services to doctors in need;
  • Implementing preventative strategies to reduce doctors’ burnout; and
  • Furthering the aims of DHASWA.

The activities undertaken should be above and beyond expectations of usual paid work duties.

The DHASWA Medical Director and Assistant Director are ineligible for the Award. Previous winners of the DHASWA Award cannot be considered for the Award again until a period of five years has lapsed.

Judging Panel

The judging panel shall comprise the DHASWA Committee. If no nominations are received, then the DHASWA Committee may elect to nominate an individual.

  • Finalists must be a member of the AMA (WA).
  • Nominations are to be submitted online through the nomination form below.
  • All nomination information and material remains the property of the AMA (WA) Award Panel.
  • All nomination information and material can be utilised by the AMA (WA) to publicly recognise the award recipient and award finalists.
  • Information about the award finalists and winner may be published in the AMA (WA) bimonthly journal Medicus and/or Med e-Link and social media.
  • The decision of the selection panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Self-nomination is permissible.

  • Wednesday 21 August 2024 – Nominations close at 5.30 pm.
  • Late August – AMA (WA) Award Panel chooses a winner. Nominees will only be notified if they are shortlisted as a finalist.
  • Saturday 12 October 2024 – Winner is announced at MEDBALL24.
