AMA (WA) member appointed Dean of National School of Medicine

We are delighted to share the news that Professor Rebecca Anglin, an AMA (WA) member, has been appointed as the Dean of the National School of Medicine at the University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA). She previously served on the AMA (WA) Council as the UNDA representative.

Prof Anglin, a consultant psychiatrist and award-winning medical educator, brings a wealth of experience in clinical practice and academic leadership from both Canada and Australia. Currently serving as the Dean of the Global MD Program at the University of Western Australia, she is well-known for her dedication to medical student education and wellbeing.

Her impressive career includes leadership roles such as Associate Dean Preclinical at UNDA Fremantle and Fellowship Director at McMaster University, where she earned recognition for excellence in education and clinical teaching.

As a seasoned clinician, Prof Anglin has worked in consultation-liaison psychiatry with a focus on integrating mental and physical health services. Her expertise extends to medico-legal psychiatry, gastrointestinal psychiatric comorbidities, and perinatal psychiatry. She also chairs the RANZCP Faculty of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry WA Branch.

Beyond her clinical contributions, Prof Anglin is a distinguished researcher, with a PhD in Medical Sciences and a focus on the gut-brain axis and gut microbiota’s role in mental health. Her work has been widely published in high-impact journals, reflecting her significant contributions to the field.

Prof Anglin will take up her role at UNDA in February 2025. We congratulate her on this remarkable achievement and look forward to seeing her continued contributions to advancing medical education and mental healthcare.
