Nominate a colleague for the Medical Student of the Year Award

About the Award

The Medical Student of the Year Award is given to a person who has made a significant and outstanding contribution as a future changemaker in the profession and in the community in areas such as education, advocacy, leadership and service.

This inaugural award has been established in collaboration with the 2024 MSCWA team. The Medical Students’ Council of WA (MSCWA) was established in 2020 as a spearhead for advocacy, representation and collaboration for issues and concerns that affected medical students across the three medical schools in WA. The council helped to provide medical students with a quick return to clinical placements post-COVID, and has grown to be a voice for all WA medical students. A grant will be awarded annually to the winner of this prestigious award.

The Award recognises a medical student (undergraduate/MBBS or postgraduate/MD), who has been outstanding in areas such as:

  • Learning, Teaching, Mentoring and Education;
  • Leadership and Advocacy;
  • Medical Students’ and/or Doctors’ Wellbeing; and
  • Community Service.

The requirement is that the nominee will have made a significant contribution to the medical field and/or medical student community beyond that expected of students and their capacity.

  • Finalists must be a member of the AMA (WA).
