Medical practitioners providing services at both public or private hospitals and health facilities on a fee-for-service basis are variously termed Visiting Medical Practitioners, Visiting Medical Officers or Contracted Medical Practitioners.
This is often facilitated under a service agreement, which is distinct from a contract of employment. Service agreements are independently negotiated by the practitioner and the health service provider.
Please contact the AMA (WA) Workplace Relations & Policy Team to access advice and guidance in relation to medical service agreements.
