Participant Testimonials

“I am delighted to say that I attended the AMA-supported AICD Company Directors Course™ last year, and it was without question the best executive leadership training I have had. The 5-day course allowed for immersion into the subject, valuable workshops, and discussions that added to the excellent content and perspective that the presenters provided.

Key learnings in financial, governance, and legal expectations were as applicable to health executive positions as they are to Board Directorship. I have recommended this course and the exam that follows it to everyone I have met since.”

Dr Mark Monaghan

Area Director Clinical Services, SMHS

“The AMA (WA) AICD Company Directors Course™ was an invaluable opportunity to refine my governance skills in a health-focused context. The support from AICD before, during, and after the course was excellent, reinforcing key learnings and ensuring a lasting impact. The course cemented my practical experience as a board member with the technical and theoretical knowledge needed to take my leadership to the next level. I’d highly recommend it to any health professional looking to enhance their governance expertise.”

Dr Katharine Noonan

Public Health Physician, Gippsland Region Public Health Unit

“I attended the AICD Company Directors Course™ hosted by the AMA in 2024. The opportunity to participate in the course alongside established and emerging leaders from across the health system was invaluable. As well as allowing for a much more applied discussion about the role of a Non-Executive Director within scenarios that most were familiar with; it also enabled participants to reflect upon shared experiences with the established Boards and governance mechanisms in place across the system. In addition to the valuable learning, it also helped build a range of relationships that have been especially helpful in the year since attending the course. I would highly recommend to any established and emerging leader within the WA health system who is looking to develop their leadership capability – regardless of whether they are seeking board positions or not.”

Ian Sheldrake

Executive Director, NMHS Strategy and Transformation

“The course provided a very helpful insight into a different world! It was well presented, with excellent speakers who were both knowledgeable and passionate about their fields. I’ve found this knowledge incredibly useful, even in everyday conversations. Having served on boards, I can see how valuable this information is, no matter where you are in your director journey.”

Dr Michelle Ammerer

Director of Coronary Care, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital
