AMA (WA) Members on King’s Birthday Honours List

Several AMA (WA) Members were honoured in the King’s Birthday 2024 Honours List.
Congratulations to Drs Janice Bell, Christine Jeffries-Stokes, David Smith, Stephen Langford and David Speers.
Dr Bell was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the General Division for significant service to general practice medicine, and to medical education and training.
The other members were awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM):
- Dr Jeffries-Stokes for significant service as a paediatrician, to rural and remote medicine, and to the Indigenous community;
- Dr Smith for service to medicine in the field of microbiology;
- Dr Langford for service to medicine, to rural health, and to medical education; and
- Dr Speers for service to medicine as a microbiologist.
Ex-member Prof Asha Bowen was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to medicine in the field of clinical diseases.
